Characteristics
We focus on one characteristic for each ancestor and a mini story or summary of their life to explain why that characteristic was chosen for them. You will need to provide the information and text for this book, which includes picking their characteristic and writing their small summary (usually only 100 words or less). The line "I can be _____ like_____" helps the children connect to their ancestors in a very simple way!
Small list of people
We highlight only a small number of people in each book. We can do:
-- 16 people in a mini-book (only 20 pages total, about the size of a basic photo book)
-- 28 people in a full-sized book (30 pages).
Graphic illustrations
As a kid, I thought black and white photos of ancestors were a little scary! But I could handle drawings of the past with no problem. Graphic illustrations enables us to create various illustrations quickly, while also personalizing it to each ancestor and their story. We can change their skin color, hair color and style, clothing, and even expressions and poses quickly.
Pedigree
We call this a family map. It only includes the people in the book so that it isn't too much all at once for children. Want to know how you're related to grateful Susan? It's in the back of the book!
